The term urinary incontinence  is defined as the involuntary, that is involuntary loss of urine due to different diseases in the urinary bladder and their locking mechanisms.

The involuntary loss of urine can have many causes. Accordingly, we distinguish different forms, such as stress incontinence, Urge or urge incontinence, reflex incontinence, overflow incontinence and incontinence extraurethrale.

Urinary incontinence is still a taboo subject for many people, the – mostly out of shame – not at all or will only very reluctantly discussed with the gynecologist. Here, the disease is actually quite common: in Germany, estimated the number of women affected up to 15 million. This means that every third or fourth wife at some point in their life from urinary incontinence – at least temporarily – ill. Among 20 – to 30 – year-old, the proportion of urinary incontinent women is about 10%, at 40 – to 50 – year-old at 25% and over 80 – year-old already at 40%.

Particularly frequently pregnant, overweight, or women with weak pelvic floor muscles suffer from the disease.

Due to a variety of different treatment methods nowadays in many cases a cure or at least a significant improvement of pain possible.
